Our 3D printouts are produced with the use of the following printers: ProJet MJP 2500 Plus (3D Systems), XFAB (DWS LAB) and 3DGENCE.

MJP – Multi Jet Printing

MJP technology uses the technique of spraying a photo-curable resin on the working platform. The process itself is very similar to ink jet printing, with the only difference being that instead of ink, it uses a photo-curable material. The next step is to cure the resin with UV light. The supporting substance in MJP technology is wax, which can easily be removed or dissolved. VisiJet® Crystal photopolymeric material and wax are used in MJP technology.

Advantages of MPJ print:

  • high precision, even in the case of small printouts,
  • the ability to print out models of complicated geometric shapes; thanks to the use of wax as a supporting substance,
  • the surface of printouts is very smooth and impact resistant,
  • the ability to print out elastic and transparent models,
  • the ability further process the product through painting, bonding and polishing.

MJP technology has a wide range of applications in medicine and industry thanks to its ability to create movable models in one printout.

SLA – stereo-lithography

SLA technology, which we use for 3D printing, is based on curing the subsequent horizontal layers of the printed model with the use of a liquid resin laser. The material is placed in a special container, in which the photopolymerisation and bonding of the substance takes place layer-by-layer under the effect of laser light, until the entire model is obtained. When removed from the printer, the item must be exposed to UV light to cure.

Advantages of SLA printing:

  • fast printing with the use of photopolymer, photoreactive or rubber-like resin;
  • hard, strong and flexible printouts, depending on the type of resin used;
  • the ability to accurately create very complicated 3D shapes,
  • single-colour or transparent printing.

SLA printouts are used for a variety of prototypes, as well as for printing of: handles, gaskets, transparent forms, housings, snap fasteners, assembly applications, marketing samples and patterns for silicone forms, footwear parts, clothing. They are also suitable for making foundry moulds.

FDM – Fused Deposition Modelling

FDM is currently the most popular 3D printing method because it is efficient and relatively inexpensive. It consists in depositing of the melted material through the print head on the table, layer-by-layer.

Advantages of single-colour FDM prints:

  • mechanical strength of models,
  • low weight,
  • wide range of materials: ABS, PLA, HIPS, PVA, Nylon, Laywood, TPE, PET and derivatives,
  • possibility to change the density of the filling,
  • the possibility of further processing of the product: grinding, drilling, painting or gluing a larger model from smaller parts.

Thanks to its features, FDM printing is widely used in industry and machinery, such as for prototypes of housings and moving parts.

FDM printing materials

  • ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) – a material used mainly in industry for housings for electronic devices, and also household appliances, car parts, sports equipment, furniture components, elements of furniture, decorative items or toys (including Lego blocks). It is characterised by high levels of hardness, flexibility, scratch resistance, and low weight. It has insulating properties and is easily thermoformable.
  • PLA – a very durable, fully biodegradable material, which is produced, usually, from corn meal. In the printing process, in contrast to ABS, PLA does not require special conditions such as a heated table or insulated working chamber, due to its low shrinkage properties. The physical properties of both materials are similar, but PLA is more brittle and becomes soft at much lower temperatures. The material is ideal for rapid prototyping of models that will not be subjected to strong and long-lasting loads.
